Russia May Try to Isolate Georgia and Azerbaijan - Bryza
Russia may try to isolate Georgia and Azerbaijan in the issue of energy use, said former US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza in an interview with a Georgian version of the Voice of America.
On the question of the impact on Georgia and the South Caucasus of the improvement of the relations between Russia and Turkey, Bryza said he does not expect a direct impact on Georgia.
"I'm more concerned about the issue of energy resources, with which Russia could try to isolate Georgia and Azerbaijan.
The purpose of the pipeline Turkish Stream is delivery of Russian gas to the EU and a reduction in investment in the energy sphere of Azerbaijan. In my view, it is part of Russia's strategy, which is aimed at strengthening the influence in Georgia and Azerbaijan,” said Bryza.
