Dagestan prepares for Victory Day celebrations

Makhachkala, April 3, 2013. On Tuesday, April 2, the acting Dagestan President Ramazan Abdulatipov conducted a meeting of Dagestan "Pobeda" (Victory) Organizing Committee.

 

Nikolai Alchiev, First Deputy Chairman of the Dagestan National Assembly, Anatoly Caribov, acting First Deputy Chairman of the Dagestan government, Magomed Baachilov, Secretary of the Dagestan Security Council, Ismail Efendiev, Deputy Head of the Dagestan presidential and governmental administration, heads of ministries and departments, as well as clergymen came to the meeting.

 

Participants discussed the issue of "The state and measures for the organizing events to celebrate the 68th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War, 1941-1945."

 

Takibat Makhmudova, acting Dagestan Minister of Labour and Social Development, read the main report.

 

"By March 1, 2013, 721 participants of the Great Patriotic War, including two Heroes of the Soviet Union and a Hero of the Russian Federation, who are granted with full social support measures set in the federal and republican legislation, live in Dagestan.

 

Makhmudova reported that the Dagestan Ministry of Labour and Social Development has developed a plan of organizing and implementing events dedicated to the 68th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, 1941-1945, which has been approved by the Acting First Deputy Dagestan Prime Minister.

 

A grand opening of the Dagestan "Memory Watch" in presence of Dagestan authorities, veterans, students, military and veterans' organizations, and the opening of the 43rd gathering of the TV unit of ethnographes-trackers (TOKS) are scheduled for April 24, 2013. The gathering will be held on April 27, 2013.

 

Then Fazu Alieva, Dagestan National Poet and chief editor of "The Woman of Dagestan" magazine, took the floor. She appealed to the elders to educate young Dagestanis on heroic examples of worthy sons of Dagestan.

 

"We ought to tell the younger generation about heroic exploits of the Soviet Union heroes", - Alieva said.

 

In conclusion, Alieva presented Ramazan Abdulatipov with her books "Eternal Flame" and "Cannons thundered, muses spoke" devoted to the victory in the Great Patriotic War. They are books about patriotism and the spirit of the Soviet people, military and labour exploits, heroic actions of Dagestanis during the Great Patriotic War.
