Daghestan centre for volunteer initiative development to be presented in Geneva

Makhachkala, May 13, 2013. The head of Daghestan center for volunteer initiative development Lyudmila Trofimova will present our republic at the III International Conference "Volunteering - a technology in social change", the Youth Affairs Committee official reports. The event will take place at the Palais des Nations - the United Nations Office at Geneva (Switzerland) on 14 – 17 May.

 

The meeting will be attended by experts and representatives of non-profit organizations and educational institutions, the government and community leaders, the representatives of international organizations and funds from Russia, Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, Denmark, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, England, France, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, Latvia and other countries.

 

The international conference "Volunteering - a technology in social change" is an annual international platform to establish effective cooperation and informational exchange of experience between active volunteers from different countries and to replicate successful volunteers’ social practices.

 

The conference has been devoted to the joint efforts issues of organizations developing volunteerism and supporting social entrepreneurship funds this year. The subject of the conference is “Social innovation to achieve the goals of sustainable development”.

 

Daghestan center for volunteer initiative development was established on the basis of state fiscal institutions "The republican house of children's and youth associations" of the Youth Affairs Committee RD as a resource of informational and methodological center for volunteering development and support in Daghestan in main directions: environment and landscaping, donation, social advertising, prevention alcohol and drug abuse, promoting healthy lifestyles, work with children and young people who find themselves in difficult life situations, disabled and veterans. The Centre supports youth initiatives for the voluntary associations’ creation and development in Daghestan.
