Khafiz Gasanov: Azerbaijan has no effective legal remedies for complaints concerning election

During the presidential election held on October 9, like during earlier election campaigns, the results of the investigation into complaints failed to meet the requirements of the law and were not valid; furthermore, legal remedies to ensure the electoral rights of citizens were not efficient and reliable. This was stated by Khafiz Gasanov, the leader of the NGO "Law and Development", at the presentation of the final report on the results of monitoring the protection of electoral rights and consideration of complaints about violations of the law during the presidential election.
The NGO "Law and Development" conducted the monitoring within the project "Legal protection of election participants", realized with the support of the German Marshall Fund of the United States, the US Embassy and the OSCE Office in Baku. Presentation of the report took place on December 12, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
The project implemented 28 educational activities in 20 regions of the country, which involved 2000 participants in the electoral process voters, observers, agents of candidates, members of election commissions, NGO activists and media people.
