Daghestani President’s press service makes statement regarding Irchi Kazak Street attack in Makhachkala on May 1

Makhachkala, May 2, 2013. On May 1, there was an explosion on Irchi Kazak Street in Makhachkala killing two children and wounding a few, according to preliminary information.

 

After the attack, the acting Daghestani President Ramazan Abdulatipov held a special teleconference where he instructed the law enforcement agencies to keep the investigation of violent crime under constant control and to keep him apprised on the investigation progress. He also ordered Daghestani government to provide the victims with all the necessary assistance and to tighten security throughout Daghestan especially during public celebrations.

 

R. Abdulatipov said that, first of all, victims and the families of the dead children should be supported. All versions put forward must undergo a most thorough investigation.

 

"Organizers of this eerie crime have given another proof of their beastly nature having nothing sacred, especially on a May spring holiday. So I have to declare that the actively work to suppress terrorism and the fight against extremism involving all the healthy forces of Daghestani society will be continued without hesitation and led to the end.
