The police disrupted actions of PFPA in the West of Azerbaijan, a representative of the party reported

On June 15, the police disrupted actions of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA) in Gazakh and Agstafa districts, activists of the oppositional organization reported. Officials of the district police departments deny these statements and decline comment.

Deputy Chairman of PFPA Asef Guliev told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent that participants of the Front tried to hold a meeting with a group of young activists in the town of Gazakh but were detained and taken out of the district in the service car of Deputy Chief of Agstafa district police department.

He estimated the incident as “one more evidence of the absence of normal conditions for political activities in Azerbaijan”.

“It was not the first case of disruption of our party actions in the regions. If today the authorities suppress routine party actions in the districts, so what will happen during the election campaign at the presidential election in October?”, Deputy Chairman of PFPA said.

Officers of the standby unit of Gazakh district police department told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent that the policemen of the Department did not detain any activists of PFPA.
