EL leader Namazov again questioned at Azerbaijani GPO
In Azerbaijan, on September 2, Eldar Namazov, the leader of the oppositional political movement EL (People) and the head of the office of the National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF), was again questioned by the Investigating Department for Serious Crimes of the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) of Azerbaijan.
Let us remind you that on August 29 Namazov was questioned by the GPO in connection with the statements of Aflan Ibragimov, a former member of the EL, who claimed that at closed meetings of the NCDF they discussed preparation of mass riots during the presidential election, if Rustam Ibragimbekov, the head of the NCDF, would not be registered as a presidential candidate. Both the EL and the NCDF have officially refuted Ibragimov's statements.
On September 2, the interrogation of Namazov lasted for about 1 hour and 20 minutes; after which he was released without any notice about the next visit to the GPO, Elchin Sadygov, the Namazov's advocate, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
The lawyer gave no details of the interrogation, referring to its secrecy, stating, however, that he treated the process as unjustified.
