About 10,000 rally in Baku

As reported by the organizers of the rally – activists of the National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF), the rally demanding to cancel the outcome of the presidential election, held on October 27 in the capital of Azerbaijan, was attended by about 10,000 people.

The resolution of the rally demands to cancel the election outcome, hold a new election, release political prisoners and stop putting pressure on the newspaper "Azadlyg". "This government is illegitimate, it should go," said Jamil Gasanli, the former presidential candidate from the NCDF.

The action participants repeatedly chanted: "Ilham, go away!" The action took place without incidents; the organizers warned participants that they should not chant slogans when leaving the action.

Earlier, on October 12, a similar action of the NCDF turned into a confrontation of the police and young protesters; about 10 people were detained. In the evening of the same day, all of them were released after identification. However, on October 14, the detainees were again summoned to the police: four of them were awarded administrative arrests for 10-15 days; and two others were fined.
