Two Daghestani attractions in top 10 of "Russia 10" project contest

Makachkala, June 20, 2013. Two Daghestani attractions - Kubachi village and the Naryn-Kala castle are among the ten leaders of the North Caucasus Federal District multimedia project contest "Russia 10" placing 5th and 6th respectively.

 

Overall, 8 Daghestan attractions participate in the "Russia 10" multimedia project contest held from March 25 to September 29, 2013, by the "Russia 1" TV channel and the Russian Geographical Society with the support of the "Russia 2", "Russia 24", "Moscow 24", "My Planet", "Strana" TV channels, "Vesti FM", "Mayak", "Radio Russia" radio stations, "Vesti.ru" and "Strana" Internet portals, with the informational support of the "Komsomolskaya Pravda" newspaper.

 

The purpose of the project is to maintain a continuous interest in our country as an object of national and international tourism, providing information about its unique geographical, architectural and historical sites, forming a new wave of "geo-patriotism" in the regions. One of the most important functions of the project is to promote the image of Russia as a unique country with its rich cultural and natural heritage. Popularization of the greatest monuments of architecture and nature will highlight Russia’s diversity and originality. The project’s task is to select ten new visual symbols of Russia by popular vote.

 

To participate in the competition, more than 700 objects - the most outstanding monuments of nature, architecture and culture of our country - were selected during the preliminary polls conducted in Russian regions. Each subjects of the Russian Federation introduced all its best, interesting and worthy attractions to the competition.

 

In the project, Daghestan is represented by the following objects: the Naryn-Kala fortress, Kubachi village, the Chirkey power plant, Lake Kazenoy-Am (pictured), the Saryh-kum Dune, the Kala-Koreish fortress village, the Durk cave, and the Karadakh canyon gorge.
