Azerbaijani ex-MP Gusein Abdullaev seeks political asylum in Germany

Gusein Abdullaev, an Azerbaijani ex-MP, businessman and author of the protest song "Susma!" (Don't keep silent!), claimed being under political persecution at home and asked for political asylum in Germany. The law enforcement bodies of Azerbaijanput Gusein Abdullaev on the wanted list on suspicion of committing economic crimes.

Let us remind you that in late May, several channels of "YouTube" posted a video on the song "Susma!" (Don't keep silent!) written by Gusein Abdullaev that showed how the police dispersed protest actions in Baku. In late June, the law enforcement bodies of Azerbaijan put Gusein Abdullaev on the wanted list, since the businessman was suspected of tax evasion.

After Gusein Abdullaev was put on the wanted list, he disseminated several statements through the Azerbaijani media, in that he condemned the Azerbaijan's authorities for putting pressure on him and his elderly parents.

He has reported that in connection of his persecution on political grounds, he had to turn to the German authorities for granting him political asylum.

Akif Alizade, advocate of Gusein Abdullaev, believes that the criminal case against his client has been roughly fabricated for political purposes. "This case should be closed, otherwise, it will collapse completely at trial," believes advocate Akif Alizade.
