Dagestani communists: elections in Derbent were falsified

Members of the Dagestan Branch of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) have addressed the head of the republic Ramazan Abdulatipov, the republic's Central Election Commission (CEC) and the Prosecutor's Office of Dagestan stating mass violations during the elections of deputies to the City Assembly of Derbent, held on September 8.

According to Magomed Saidov, the lawyer of the above Branch of the CPRF, facts of ballot throw-in were registered at polling stations; and these violations were committed by members of election commissions.

On the voting day, the voter turnout was from 7 to 100 persons per polling station, said Magomed Saidov, referring to observers. However, the reports of the Territorial Election Commissions (TECs) state that over 1000 voters had visited every polling station.

For example, at the station No. 0491, after opening of the ballot boxes, 8 ballots were found there: 3 – for the CPRF; 3 – for the "Edinaya Rossiya" (United Russia) (ER) Party; and 2 – for "Patriots of Russia". The chairman of the station refused to issue the protocol; he got into the car and fled, saying that he was going to the TEC Derbent, Magomed Saidov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. As a result, according to the TEC, the results for this polling station were as follows: 53 votes – for the CPRF; 937 – for the ER; and 65 votes for the "Patriots".

"The observers from the CPRF drew up acts on all these facts. We treat the elections in general as falsified; and state that the announced outcomes fail to reflect the voters' will," said Magomed Saidov.
