Court to consider on merits case of riots in Ismailly on November 18
The consideration of the case of riots in the Azerbaijani city of Ismailly on merits is scheduled for November 18. Today, the court has concluded the preparatory court session.
Ilgar Mamedov, the leader of the civil movement "Republican Alternative" (ReAl), and Tofiq Yagublu, Deputy Chairman of the "Musavat" Party, are among the defendants in the case of riots in Ismailly that occurred on January 23-24. They both pleaded not guilty.
On November 4, the preliminary court hearings were started, and the defence filed a motion to close the case, release the defendant from custody, and to carry out the trial in a more spacious room.
At the today's court session, the Judge has stated that all motions filed by the defendants' defence were dismissed. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by independent journalist Mamed Sadiq Fataliev, who was present at the meeting.
