Azerbaijan ready to invest and support restoration projects in Afghanistan
BAKU, September 05. /ITAR-TASS/. Azerbaijan is ready to take part in investment projects in Afghanistan, the press service of President of Azerbaijan Ilkham Aliyev said Friday.
The press service quoted Aliyev as saying at a NATO summit in Wales that 40% of cargoes with no destructive power intended for Afghanistan are transported through the territory of Azerbaijan.
"Azerbaijan is ready to take part in investment and reconstruction projects in Afghanistan,” Aliyev said.
He pointed out that the Azerbaijanian military contingent takes part in the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) since it was established and that training programs for officials and law enforcers from Afghanistan were available in different academies in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan contributed €3 million to the Trust Fund of the national army of Afghanistan and €1 million for defense projects, Aliyev said, according to his press service.
