The decision on the winner of the Sakharov Prize postponed
The decision to award the Sakharov Prize, to be adopted on 16 October, has been postponed to 21 October, according to the "Azadlig" radio, citing its own sources. The reason for the postponement is unknown. Among the three contenders for this prestigious award are Leyla Yunus, head of the Institute for Peace and Democracy, one of the most prominent human rights defenders in Azerbaijan.
Sakharov Prize is awarded annually for outstanding achievements in the protection of human rights and freedoms in the world.
