The French Foreign Ministry is concerned about the arrest Khadija Ismayilova

The French Foreign Ministry expressed concern over the arrest on December 5 an investigative journalist Khadija Ismayilova on charges of incitement to suicide. The statement of the  French Foreign Ministry sent to the Turan agency  recalled that during his visit to Baku in May of this year, French President Francois Hollande met with Ismaylova.

France calls on the governments of Azerbaijan to respect the commitments made by the OSCE and the Council of Europe, including in the field of freedom of the press, independence of the judiciary, ensuring the right to defense and the presumption of innocence. The French Foreign Ministry says it will closely monitor the situation around Ismaylova.
