Germany and the EU are pleased to release Leyla Yunus

 

The German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier called the change a measure of restraint of the Azerbaijani human rights activist Leyla Yunus to house arrest "an important humane step," reported late evening on December 9  the Agency AFP. According to him, it is now necessary urgently provide the necessary medical care  to Leyla Yunus and her husband Arif.

The EU called  release of the human rights activist a positive gesture, and urged Baku to further action in this direction. The EU expressed its readiness to "strengthen and develop" relations with Azerbaijan.

The US State Department also welcomed the decision of the court of Baku, stating that it is "a manifestation of humanity," according to DW.
