Chechnya and Dagestan in the lead of social stratification of population

Russia's leaders by the size of the gap between the rich and the poor are Chechnya, Moscow and Dagestan. At the same time, according to a ranking released by the RIA "Rating", the republics of Northern Caucasus and Kalmykia have the lowest level of the average salary.

Experts have calculated for each region of Russia the so-called "Gini coefficient", based on the level of the wages of the population, as well as the size of the population, the cost of housing, etc. The higher the stratification of the population, the closer the coefficient is to 100%.

According to the study, the highest macroeconomic Gini coefficient was in the Chechen Republic – 40.1%. The runner-up is Moscow – 39.3%; then goes Dagestan – 38.6%.

Among the regions of Russia's South, and in the country as a whole, high levels of social stratification were also fixed in the Astrakhan Region (37.5%), Karachay-Cherkessia (35.5%), Kabardino-Balkaria (35.4%), North Ossetia (35, 2%) and Kalmykia (35.1%).
