In Russia, Chechnya leads in payment of maternity capital

The Chechen Republic has paid about 32 billion roubles of the maternity capital since the beginning of the programme, which is higher than in other subjects of the Federation. This was reported by the Pension Fund of Russia.

On December 22, 2006, within the programme to boost birth rate, the Russian State Duma adopted the Federal Law "On additional measures of state support for families with children".

According to the information of the Pension Fund, starting from July 1, 2009 till September 1, 2013, about 32 billion roubles were transferred to Chechnya for payment of maternity capital, and during the indicated period, the population growth in the region reached more than 86,000 persons, the "Yuzhny Federalny" reports.

Tatarstan and Bashkiria occupy the second and third places. The fourth place went to Dagestan that received about 27 billion roubles of maternity capital. Dagestan also took the first place in the rate of population growth: during four years of the programme to support birth rate, the population increased by nearly 235,000 persons, the "Izvestiya" reports.

The North-Caucasian region has received twice as much money as Moscow and the Moscow Region – the most densely populated and economically developed regions, taken together, the "Komsomolskaya Pravda" reports.
