Defence of Said Amirov asks Ministry of Public Health to intervene with medical treatment of dismissed Mayor at SIZO

The defence of Said Amirov, Mayor of Makhachkala, who was dismissed from office, asks Veronika Skvortsova, Minister of Public Health, to intervene with the situation with his medical treatment at the SIZO (pre-trial prison) and claims new charges with plotting a terror act are groundless.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 1, policemen detained Said Amirov on suspicion of involvement in the attempt on the life of Arsen Gadjibekov, a Dagestani investigator. The day after the detention, the official was brought to Moscow, where the court decided to take him into custody. Later, Said Amirov faced a new charge in the case of plotting a terror act.

The defence of Said Amirov takes steps to change the pre-trial restriction measure for him to, at least, home arrest. This was stated by Vladimir Postanyuk, the leader of the advocates' group that worked on the Said Amirov' case.

According to Vladimir Postanyuk, the defence has filed an appeal to Veronika Skvortsova, Minister of Public Health, asking her to personally intervene with the situation with the medical treatment of Said Amirov at the SIZO. The advocate notes that every day, Said Amirov needs 18 medical procedures, and he has to conduct the above procedures by himself at the cell. On that occasion, the defence has already contacted the Red Cross and other organizations.
