PACE monitoring co-rapporteurs make fact-finding visit to Azerbaijan

Pedro Agramunt (Spain, EPP/CD) and Joseph Debono Grech (Malta, SOC), co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) for the monitoring of Azerbaijan, will visit the country from 21 to 23 January 2014, to further assess the honouring of its obligations and commitments to the Council of Europe.

In Baku, the co-rapporteurs are due to meet the Minister of Justice, the Prosecutor General, the Chairperson of the Supreme Court, the Head of the Presidential Administration, representatives of political parties represented in Parliament and extra-parliamentary opposition, the Head of EU delegation and representatives of civil society.

Talks are also scheduled with the Chairperson of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, and with representatives of local authorities and civil society in Nakhchivan.
