Dagestan: DSPU staff suspected of embezzling 20 million roubles intended for students

 
The Vice-Rector and the boss of one of the departments of the Dagestani State Pedagogical University (DSPU) are suspected of a large-scale theft, says the Investigating Department (ID) for Dagestan of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF). According to investigators, they have stolen over 20 million roubles intended for financial aid to students.

In November-December 2013, Magomed Abdulaev, the Acting Rector of the DSPU issued an order to pay out lump-sum financial aid to students in the amount of 3000-7000 roubles (intended for especially needy students, – note of the "Caucasian Knot"), the above ID of the ICRF reports. In total, according to investigators, 23 million roubles were allocated.

The above Vice-Rector for Education and Social Work and the above boss of the Department for Education and Youth Policy received the money in cash. In late December, they gave out some 2,129,000 roubles to students and embezzled more than 20 million roubles.

Let us remind you that that in November 2013 the Prosecutor's Office of Dagestan sent materials to investigating bodies on initiating a criminal case against Magomed Abdulaev, the Acting Rector of the DSPU and a former Prime Minister of the Republic, who is suspected of frauds in enrolling students.
