At the end of March, the office of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Dagestan will be closed. After that, in Northern Caucasus, the Red Cross offices will remain only in Nalchik and Grozny.

The Dagestani office of the ICRC is closed within the revision of the Committee's activities in Northern Caucasus, "in line with the changing situation and needs for help," notes the ICRC.

The Khasavyurt-based office had eight employees, the TASS quotes Olga Berezueva, the head of the ICRC office in Dagestan, as saying.

The ICRC's office in Dagestan has worked for 20 years, the "Dagestanskaya Pravda" reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since 2013, the Red Cross and Red Crescent societies have been paying more attention to projects related to helping victims of natural disasters, the prevention of the spread of HIV and tuberculosis, as well as to road safety.
