In Sochi, Mardiros Demerchyan charged with denunciation

Artyom Semenets, the investigator of the Adler Division of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) has filed charges against Mardiros Demerchyan of false denunciation of staff members of the Blinovo police station. Mardiros Demerchyan has signed recognizance not to leave. The advocate and his client stated that they would challenge the investigator's actions.

 

Let us remind you that on June 12, Mardiros Demerchyan was detained by policemen, and on June 13, he was brought out of the police station in the village of Blinovo to the city hospital No. 4. Lyudmila Demerchyan, the wife of Mardiros Demerchyan, has claimed that her husband and Sergey Krbaschyan, another builder, were beaten by the policemen. In his interview to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, Mardiros Demerchyan himself stated that he was tortured by the policemen. On July 26, the ICRF instituted a criminal case against Mardiros Demerchyan on suspicion of false denunciation.

 

On October 2, Mardiros Demerchyan was charged under Part 1 of Article 306 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by the builder himself. Meanwhile, he continues to insist that he told the truth about torture. He has added that he had no reason to give false testimony against the policemen.
